The history of dates back all the way back to 1958, when founder Louis Foster began the company in Los Angeles. Then, he took his private, independent agency and turned it into a very successful inter-insurance exchange business. This is a company that is much like an insurance co-op, where the policyholders themselves provide the overall financing that insured themselves against loss. This business model has been very successful for a number of companies, but was one of the pioneers.

Though it began as a single employee operation, the company grew rapidly following its founding. By 1966, the company had become so large that they had to move to Century City in order to make space for all of the new staff and business. During that year, the company was happy to report that it reached the $1 million mark in premiums.

1968 marked a change in philosophy for It changed its primary operation mode from the old inter-insurance exchange to becoming a new capital stock corporation. Because the federal government took away many of the inherent tax advantages of the previous operation, the group had to do something to remain profitable and competitive. This boded well for the customers of the company, who went from just being policyholders in the old company to becoming stockholders in the new company. The customers were compensated in equity based upon the amount of profit that had been made during the time that the company was an exchange. From there, the company saw both its stock and its business take off at the same time. New stockholders were happy to see that the company quickly moved up to $2 million in premiums in 1969, $5 million in 1972, and an amazing amount of $10 million in 1975. The fast growth of this business was startling to the founding fathers, but it set the precedent for more advancement to come. saw another change in 1980, when they moved to Woodland Hills. They continue to grow almost exponentially to the point where the company now employs around 2,500 people and has more than 15 offices across the country. In The Community has always taken great pride in its work in the community. It is not satisfied with just providing insurance. This is a company that wants to give something back.

Among their contributions in this light include a $1.8 million contribution to the United Way over the last five years. They also came together to give $3 million to the Union Rescue Mission. This effort was led by the company's founder, Louis Foster.

They have also kept a keen eye on education and helping out students. In 1996, they were a leader in helping to establish the Los Angeles Police Academy Magnet School Program. This program helped to reach out to high school students who thought they might like a career in law enforcement. It also helped establish important leadership qualities in these students. The company has given almost $500,000 to the program since its beginning. also contributes to helping the California Missions Foundation which dedicates itself to advancing the awareness of the 21 historic missions in California. They are seeking to teach young people about what is going on at these places so that they can effect some sort of change in the future.

Each and every holiday season, you can find employees giving their time to a good cause. Part of the creed of this company is giving back to community, which they seem intent on doing with both time and money.

Safety concerns in the community are also very important to the company. They have consistently worked with the California Highway Patrol to help promote child seat safety in the community. They helped put out a free guide for parents on how to property put in a child seat. This dedication to service and safety is what makes 21st Century Insurance a different kind of company that people want to be a part of. Insurance is a registered trademark of Insurance. I never received a policy from 21st Century. Upon calling to get a copy emailed and faxed to a new insurance company, I was assured it was being faxed as we spoke...neither happened. I'm pretty annoyed with this agent and am still awaiting proof of insurance. I won't be using 21st again.

I have had wonderful success with! I even totalled my car, and had little problems with them. My rate hike after that was modest - - much better than I suspected. They are the BEST I have come across in over 25 years of driving.
